A few weeks into your course you start to think that you have chosen the wrong subject as itís really hard and you arenít enjoying it at all. You are starting to get behind with your project work .... this gets bad comments from your tutor which just makes you feel even more that you are on the wrong course.

What do you do next?

  • Talk to your tutor about it
  • Try to work harder and make sure you make deadlines for your work
  • Leave things as they are in the hope that things improve

Read on to find out which of these options you should or shouldnít takeÖÖ.

--------------

Talk to your tutor about it

This is definitely the best option because the sooner you let your tutors know that you are struggling the sooner you can start to sort things out.† You will find that just talking about it will make things seem better and it may be that you are not on the wrong course.† When we start to get down and anxious about something it can spiral into something much bigger making you doubt everything but by talking to your tutors you not only get any extra support you need but you will start to see things more positively.

--------

Try to work harder and make sure you make deadlines for your work

Well, this will obviously improve your situation if you are not falling behind and may be the boost you need. Sometimes we in life we just have to face up to things and work a bit harder!† However if there was a reason for you falling behind (other than not wanting to do the work) those reasons may still be there and you might be putting even more pressure on yourself so even if you do decide this is the right thing to do it would still be worth talking to your tutor to explain why you think you are in this situation and what you plan to do about it.

------------

Leave things as they are in the hope that things improve

This rarely works with anything! Ignoring a problem doesnít mean it isnít still there and things would probably end up getting worse.† Most problems are a lot easier to solve if you tackle them early.
