Become a donor

You have the power to save a life!!!!

Giving blood

Blood is needed to help people who need an operation or have had an accident so it is very important that people give blood regularly.

If you are 17 or over you can give blood. The National Blood Service organises sessions all over the country so you will be able to find somewhere near you.

Organ donation

Would you take a donated organ if you needed one?

Nearly everyone would. But only around a third of us have joined the Organ Donor Register.

More than 10,000 people in the UK currently need a transplant. Of these three a day will die waiting as there are not enough organs available. Please save the life only you can and register on the NHS Organ Donor Register. You could save and profoundly change the lives of up to 8 people through your donation.

After making your decision it is vital for you to let your family know you want to be a organ donor.

Did you know CEO Mark Zuckerberg believed in organ donation so much he added a I`m a organ donor status on your Facebook profile page? yes NHS Organ Donation and Facebook are partners!. This can be found by clicking on the Life Event tab and then selecting the Health and Wellness option. People can highlight their intention to become an organ donor or record that they have joined, but they cannot join the Organ Donor Register using the timeline function.

Stem Cell donation

Donate your stem cells by signing up to the register, and you could be a lifesaving match for someone with blood cancer.

If you’re between 16–30 and in good health, you can sign up to the Anthony Nolan register.

Whenever a patient with blood cancer or a blood disorder needs a lifesaving stem cell transplant, they search the register, looking for someone who’s a genetic match for that patient. If you’re a match, they'll be in touch, and will ask you to donate and save a life.

Anthony Nolan - Be a match, Save a lifeTo register, call 0303 303 0303 or visit www.anthonynolan.org
