No Messin residential
A group of 5 11 year olds from Ely took part in a free No Messin Residential which was awarded in partnership with Network Rail and Youth Scotland. The group got the chance to attend after submitting a grant to make a film around train safety in their local area, which they were successful in getting.
14 groups in total were successful in their bids for community safety projects and where all invited along to one of two residentials at Avon Tyrrell Activity Centre in Hampshire. The groups came from all across the country. On the residential we where on the groups came from Scotland, Wales and Gloucestershire and where all aged between 11 and 14.
The residential had a very busy schedule and the young people were involved in workshops from 9:30am to 9:30pm. These included talks from the British Transport Police, Network Rail and many others. This was to give them ideas to help plan and focus on their chosen projects.
On the second day the young people also got the chance to complete some team building activities, which included raft building and problem solving, which they all enjoyed very much
