Fundraising with the Red Cross
Just over two weeks ago I was volunteering at Littleport Youth Club when Tina Sutton came up to me and asked if I would like to do some volunteer work in Austria at a Red Cross camp, on the following week, I said that would be great.
On Tuesday 12th July I travelled down to London Kings Cross by train and met the group I would be travelling to Austria with, there was 3 members from Bristol and another two from Peterborough and me from Littleport. We stayed in Heathrow on Tuesday night and on Wednesday we got our flight to Vienna, Austria.
We stayed at the camp in Langenlois for 5 days with different people from all over Europe. We did different activities every day such as back massages, different things to do with the red cross, a trip to Vienna where we did a flash mob and a peace walk with a camp fire and singing in the evening.
I meet so many interesting people and it was a great experience to walk along side the British Red Cross, when I have finished college I would like to volunteer with them and I would say to any one that gets the opportunity to volunteer or do anything like this to do it.
