Ely locality visit to Grafham
Funding given to Act 4 Kidz by Short Breaks Innovation Funds made a day of fun possible this half term. Act 4 Kidz is a group founded by Niki Pitt for children and young people with special needs, aged between 3 and 19 years old and their families. The group runs twice a month and is a great support for the whole family.
Jane Tuck, Parent Support Adviser supporting Ely, Littleport, Witchford locality team, working for Highfield Special Needs School in Ely. Took 4 families to Grafham Water supported by Niki Pitt, Chair of Act 4 Kidz.
Everyone enjoyed their day at Grafham Water, and as you can see Holly who uses a wheel chair was able to be hoisted up the climbing wall. Her brother, Andrew was able to reach the top with very little effort.
The purpose of the trip was to give the whole family an experience they could all join in and have fun together in a supportive environment. I think we achieved this.
What did Andrew and his mum think of the day?....
“Very good variety of facilities with extremely helpful and supportive staff I would happily do it again”. (Andrew)
“Holly and Andrew have had a really good time. The facilities at Grafham Water are excellent – hoisting onto the power boat very easy and extremely helpful staff. Holly experienced her first experience of heights which she loved! “(Mum)
