Fundraising at Murrow and Parson's Drove

On Saturday 22nd September 6 young people from Murrow Youth Club and 'Off-Street' Parson Drove Youth Club volunteered to spend their time charity bag packing at Morrisons, Wisbech to raise money for the youth clubs. The young people all worked extremely hard, greeting customers, packing their bags efficiently and chatting happily to the staff and customers about their work and their youth clubs. In total they raised a total of Ł178.95 which will be divided between the youth clubs. Comments on the day from young people were this is so fun, everyone is lovely' and 'can we do one every week?!'.

The youth club staff and volunteers along with other community members including Parish Councillors, local head teachers, community members or organisations, parents and young people have been continuously fundraising and developing the youth clubs as a group called Murrow and Parson Drove Action For Youth Committee. Both youth clubs are currently funded by Roddons Housing Association through their community scheme.

The committee have planned, organised and ran many fundraising events over the last year, which have all been in aid of raising money for activities, equipment, trips and also the continuation of the youth clubs. There have been various events such as a bingo, two quiz nights, running a food and drink stall at village events, raffles and also most recently the bag pack. They have also been fortunate enough to have been given donations from Parish Councils, community charities and also from community events that are put on by community members.

Both Laura Burgess and Laura Shreeve, Lead Youth Workers for the youth clubs would like to thank Morrisons, all committee members, people who have supported and donated and also the young people for their kindness and hard work. 'It is fantastic to have such a large amount of community support and involvement in the local area and it is greatly appreciated'.
