Awards for Huntingdon young people
On Wednesday 15th October, young people, community members, parents and professionals enjoyed an evening of celebration as part of the Huntingdon Locality Team Showcase Event. There was refreshments, information stands, have a go activities form the Youth Store, a Zumba session and a presentation of certificates to young people involved in a number of different projects. The Youth Advisory Committee helped to organise the event and along with many young people, helped out on the night.
NCS Awards, presented for Food Hygiene. Young people took part in a residential, a food hygiene course, first aid course and fundraising for Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Youth Advisory Group, Tesco, R.G Carter and ELM Solutions. ‘YAC’ meet as a group, representing young people who access Huntingdon Youth Centre. They worked on planning the new layout and furniture at the centre with thanks to some funds from Tesco.
The ‘Keeping In Touch’ project. Run through the summer as a programme to ‘keep in touch’ with young people who would be starting college in September. The young people received vouchers and certificates and attendance for participation.
Young people from the Gateway Youth club participated in a residential to Grafham Water where they did lots of cycling thanks to a grant by the CCC Small Grants scheme, celebrating the Tour De France.
Fusion Holiday Activity scheme – young people who volunteer through the summer and half term holidays become ‘Orange T-Shirts’ and get to do their Food Hygiene and First Aid Certificates.
