Snowdon Achievement

The Cambridge City Early District Team took a group of young people away to Snowdon for hillier climates. 13 brave young people took part in a night hike, climbing the 2nd biggest mountain in UK and abseiling in a secret spot. As well as cooking up some gourmet group meals. The activities were both physically and mentally demanding yet everyone put in a huge amount of effort to take part and complete the challenges.

Ella, 15  said ‘I’m glad I went, the night hike was the best bit, the way down I mean, going up was hard’.

The group climbed (and crawled) up Snowdon for 8 hours, battling the wind and rain and the lack of wifi, reaching the top during a white out. Although they couldn’t marvel at the view or snapchat it, all of them were proud of their achievements and celebrated with Haribo, shielding themselves behind a wall.

Kieron, 14 “I found it hard at the time, and I was really tired coming back down thinking I couldn’t do it, but I did it. When I look back and reflect, I’m really proud of myself”

The group massively developed their confidence in dealing with difficult and new situations and worked on their perseverance, which impressed all the staff involved.
