10/12/2018 School isn't fun

10/12/18 - Female, 15 :

School really isn't a fun time anymore. I use to love coming and seeing my friends but now it really just feels like a thing that I HAVE to do. It feels like I'm doing the same thing over and over and over

Thanks very much for your message.

I am sorry to hear that you are not enjoying school as much as you used to.  The law states that full time education is compulsory for all children between the ages of 5 (4 in Northern Ireland) and 16, the compulsory school age (CSA). In England, compulsory education or training has been extended to 18 for those born on or after 1 September 1997.

It might be helpful for you to spend some time thinking about what you would like to do after you leave school, as this could help you to focus and feel that going to school and studying for your qualifications has purpose and meaning.  There is lots of information on Youthoria about post 16 options and different course options.  There should also be a careers advisor within your school, so perhaps try and find out who this is and book yourself an appointment.

It may be worth looking into some lunch time/after school clubs that your school might offer to add something different to your time at school.  You could perhaps learn a new skill, try a new sport and meet some new friends.
