£23,937 per annum initially. Additionally, upon completion of a successful tour, you will receive a 10% bonus on your Antarctic Service.

Hours:

Full Time - Antarctic Summer Only (Up to 8 Months).

Job Description:

You will be Station Support Assistant to undertake all manner of domestic duties on station including catering duties, waste handling and laundry: Daily cleaning of all public areas - dining room, lounge, bar, library, toilets & showers, corridors & stairs. Re-supply cleaned toilets/showers with - toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, shampoo. Re-supply the dining room with - tea, coffee, milk, cereals, butter, biscuits & snacks etc. For mealtimes & tea breaks - make up milk & juices, lay tables, operate dishwasher, clear tables. Launder bed linen, towels & tea towels. Assist the Chef Manager in re-supplying the kitchen stores. Handle all kitchen & domestic waste from public areas. Bale or shred as required. (involves the use of simple industrial machinery).

Training:

In house training. BAS provides all training required, outdoor and work clothing, tools, and accommodation (whilst in the Antarctic).

Qualifications:

No formal qualifications required, Fluent in written and spoken English language. Ability to lift, push and pull required loads, Good physical resilience, stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend, Knowledge of COSHH regulations. Stock take/control experience. Ability to manage routine tasks within set timescales, Ability to handle multiple domestic tasks. Experience of domestic duties/cleaning in a professional capacity, Experience in a Hotel or residential care facility an advantage. You will need to be physically capable and medically fit to work in Antarctic conditions.
