Engineering Apprentice






National minimum wage: Under 18: £4.05, 18 - 20: £5.60.


3 days a week in the workplace and 2 days at college in Peterborough in the 1st year. In 2nd year you will be in the workplace 4 days with 1 day a week at college in Peterborough. Once apprenticeship completed you will full time at the company.



Job Description:

You will be working for an engineering and manufacturing company with a passion for developing practical, well designed engineering solutions. You will joining the company as an Engineering Apprentice. As one of their apprentices you will be supporting the manufacture of precision products for both internal and external customers. Your key responsibilities and tasks will be to undertake an apprenticeship in engineering leading to a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation. You will cement theoretical knowledge with practical experience working alongside skilled operators. You will become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of machine tools including, but not restricted to, CNC turning and milling machines, grinders and drills. You will fit and assemble components including the use of hand tools. You will measure and inspection using a variety of metrology equipment. You will ensure a professional, quality service (external and internal) is provided at all times. Be conversant with and assume proper responsibility for the implementation of the company's health, safety, quality and environmental policies and all other company policies, rules and arrangements, demonstrating a responsible attitude to fellow employees, customers and suppliers of the company, leading by example and taking appropriate action where required. You will maintain, develop and build long-term relationships.


In house training and relevant accredited apprenticeship qualifications at Peterborough. Equivalent to one day a week.


You should have GCSEs in Maths, Science, English or equivalent qualifications. You will have the ability to establish good relationships with colleagues and customers. You will show good team-working skills. You will demonstrable an interest in an engineering discipline with an aptitude for practical science or engineering skills. You will be IT literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel or equivalent software. You will have the ability to work efficiently and accurately. You will be highly motivated, being proud of delivering high standards of work (academic and/ or practical tasks) and be committed to learn and develop.


This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience as an Engineering Apprentice. For the right candidate there may be the opportunity to progress with the company and take further relevant qualifications.
