Apprentice Test Technician






National minimum wage: Under 18: £4.05, 18 - 20: £5.60.


As an apprenticeship most of your week will be with the employer but at least one day a week with be at college completing the relevant course to the position.



Job Description:

You will be working for an engineering and manufacturing company with a passion for developing practical, well designed engineering solutions. You will joining the company as an Apprentice Test Technician. As one of their apprentices you will undertake the physical testing of parts and assemblies for production. Your key responsibilities and tasks will be to undertake an apprenticeship in Test leading to a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation. You will be involved in both the delivery of the test facility programme of work and in production, there is a wide range of job functions. These will include: Undertake the testing laboratory work schedule - actively planning for testing, work instructions, training, etc. Undertake tests, analyse data and report writing/preparation of results as required. Undertake research into test types, standards and material information as required. You will assist in the evaluation and testing of new products and materials. You will participate in relevant product development projects. You will ensure the Equipment Calibration is undertaken and accurate at all times. You will support the Certification of relevant products, once trained. You will assist with the preparation of job packs and drawings for production purposes. You will maintain the 5-S principles in the test facility. You will adhere to health and safety regulations (including adequate knowledge of COSHH, MSDS and PPE).


In house training and relevant accredited apprenticeship qualifications. Equivalent to one day a week.


You should have GCSEs in Maths, Science, English or equivalent qualifications. You will have the ability to establish good relationships with colleagues and customers. You will show good team-working skills. You will have enthusiasm and drive with dedication and perseverance. You will be willing to take on responsibility appropriately with a flexible attitude to work; enjoys variety, multi-skilling and varied workloads.


This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience as an Apprentice Test Technician. For the right candidate there may be the opportunity to progress with the company and take further relevant qualifications.
