Race for life 2010

On Tuesday 29th June 19 young people, 5 youth workers and one parent participated in the Race for Life at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough. All money raised form the event goes to Cancer Research UK. Two mums also came to cheer for everyone over the finish line. Young people and youth workers came from both the Wisbech Locality and the March and Chatteris Locality. This is the third year running that this joint locality trip has taken place.

Prior to the big race a fundraising bag pack took place at Tesco in Wisbech. Young people and youth workers raised approximately £275 to help towards costs for the trip. Funding support was also given to the group from Fenland District Council and from the East Cambs and Fenland Area Inclusion Youth Work post.

Everyone completed the race. Some walked, some ran and others did a bit of both! Shelby Hancock from Wisbech was the first to finish from our group and completed it in 29 minutes.

The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Comments from young people’s evaluation included:

“I thought it was really good and would like to do the 10km next”

“I loved it and I would totally do it next year!”
