Netherhall boys smash 75 mile Challenge

A group of year 9 boys from Netherhall School set them selves a gruelling challenge to raise money for Children in Need. The group came up with the idea to do a team based exercise challenge where they would go to a gym and run, swim row and cycle a combined 75mile between 4 of them. They worked for months in school to plan and organise the project and with the support of Cambridge county Council youth workers and Abbey pool were able to complete it on July 15th 2011.

With the help of a lot of cereal bars, water and bananas they completed the whole distance in just less than 4 hours. This was an excellent time for a challenge that proved to be not just physically but quite mentally tiring as well. Charlie led the way for the group covering a very impressive individual total of 23 miles and he had this to say about the project.

"I am happy we completed the project after all the work we put into the planning. I am very proud of myself for all the money we raised for Children who are not as lucky as us"

The group put in all the hard work to raise money for Children in Need as that is a cause that they chose as one that was most important to them. Nathan explains how he feels about this.

"I did this project to raise money for other children that really need it and struggle in life. I pushed myself to the limit to finish this challenge for them."

When all the sponsorship comes in they should have raised over £250 which ›is a really good effort. The group are really grateful for everybody who was able to donate. If you would like to donate but have not been able to please do at their just giving site which is:

The group would like to thank everyone who made the project possible especially Laura and Lauren at the Abbey pool who were great in letting us use the gym and encouraging us throughout.

Thank you
