Cottenham and Swavesey NCS project

Young people attended a residential at Condover Hall with the NCS programme.

On return they met several key members of the community to help aid them with their community project. These included a spokesperson from Papworth Trust, a local Parish Councillor, Oblique Arts, and they also met a volunteer who has previously raised money for EACH, Miltons Childrens Hospice.

After meeting a range of people from different organisations, the group decided to raise money for EACH. To do this they planned a sponsored walk, raffle and a cake sale. They made all the cakes for the sale and had to visit their local youth clubs to recruit members for their sponsored walk. They felt proud to have achieved something for their community.

For some members it has increased their confidence and self-belief. All of the group achieved personal goals when faced with different challenges throughout the process, whether this was going on the residential or speaking out when selling the cakes.
